Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport and Evinrude G2: double trouble
When trouble is intended as fun, of course. Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport is perfectly matched to Evinrude G2 150 HO, which is quintessentially sporty. Some months ago we tested Ranieri International Cayman 23 in the Touring version, the one with a large consolle and a cabin underneath. This Sport trim enhances open spaces instead. A confrontation is useful not for the layout itself, as it's a matter of personal choices, but for the different engines mounted. The former used a four-stroke, 200 HP Suzuki, while this one is powered by a two strokes Evinrude G2 HO with 150 horses. Go ahead and compare performance yourselves. Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport by Evinrude has a lot of grit

Personally I prefer Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport. The smaller console leaves space to the cockpit and in particular to the fore solarium which hides a large locker with a perfectly even finishing. The dashboard houses a digital instrument by Evinrude and the physical buttons, both on a black panel. The windshield protects enough and is completed by a steel frame which comes useful as a hand-rail. The pilot station works only in standing position, but abaft the dinette takes place by raising a hinged table. There's enough space to mount also a grill, a sink and the refrigerator. The bench in the back can tilt and become a second sun bed. Ranieri-International-Cayman-23-Sport_Evinrude_9

Ranieri Cayman 23 Sport: the test

The day on Lago Maggiore is not the best, so the photos you see have been shot in the following days. In our case the weather was foggy and cold, but this didn't discourage our will to test the boat and the engine. The 150 horse-power of the Evinrude G2 HO push Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport to plane in 2.7 seconds, and to a top speed of 41.4 knots in another 23”. Five passengers and over 40 knots still require under 50 liters per hour of fuel: excellent. Slow down to a cruise of around 20 and this figure drops to a half, and down again to 13.4 lph at the minimum planing pace (9.5 knots at 2500 rpm). The usual downside of 2-stroke engines is the noise, and this Evinrude makes no exception – although it got much better than in the past. And what about the rib? Ranieri International Cayman 23 Sport matches perfectly with the engine, also because as we mentioned it can bear up to 200 HP. During our test we didn't meet tall waves, but there's been actually no conditions at all when we felt unsafe or in trouble. But if by trouble you mean fun, then yes, we had plenty.
